Booting Windows in safe mode - When you just can't get into windows you may want to try safe mode. It allows you to make changes and fix problems. This allows you to get windows working again.
To do this restart your computer let it start booting press F8 just before you see the windows logo.

Msconfig - If your computer is running slow it may have a virus but it may also just be that there are a lot of processes running. To check this there is a utility that shows what processes are running. These are the little icons in the bottom right hand side of your desktop. To start this program in Windows 95/98/2000 you need to download and install it first. When installed Press start - Run - type msconfig. Click Start tab. Here is a list of programs that are running in the background all the time. The easiest way to figure out what each one does is to type its name into Google.

Lost your administrator password for XP - If you have lost your administrator login password don't worry click here and follow what it says. A lot of people think this is not possible to resolve without further software but I have used this method to help customers and it does work.

Prolong your laptops battery life - If your battery does not last very long use hardware profiles to conserve energy. Go into control panel (shame on you if you don't know where this is) - System - Click Hardware tab - Hardware tabs - Copy the hardware profile that's currently here and name it - now if you restart your computer when it's restarting you will see a choice of the two profiles - Choose the one you have just created. Now go into control panel - System - Hardware tab - Device manager - switch off unneeded devices. You now have two different Hardware profiles dependent on whether you are plugged in or using battery.

Joining Windows Media Center Edition to Domain - There is two ways to add this version of windows to a domain the first is to add it whilst installing (this disables use of extenders). The other is to make some changes. click here
